You can use your Internet providers SMTP server, which should be located on their website or in the papers you received when you signed up with them.
Google is also offering a free SMTP (smtp.gmail.com), it does however require the creation of a Gmail email, to sign into the SMTP.
How to setup Gmail as SMTP:
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP username: Your full Gmail or Google Apps email address (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org)
SMTP password: Your Gmail password

In order to store a copy of outgoing emails in your Gmail or Google Apps Sent folder, log into your Gmail or Google Apps email Settings and:
Click on the Forwarding/IMAP tab and scroll down to the IMAP Access section: IMAP must be enabled in order for emails to be properly copied to your sent folder.
